MARIAN BROTHERS MOBILE CLINIC

Introduction 

Following the influx of refugees in 2016 in Bidibidi settlement, the refugees were faced with numerous humanitarian challenges amongst which was basic health care services that necessitated an urgent attention of help to offer the best possible health services to them. This was the basis for which the Marian Brothers Mobile Clinic (MBMC) started. It targeted the most vulnerable people amongst the refugees. The targeted groups included children from 0-5 years, elderly above 60 years, People with Special Needs (PSN) and any person who needed an urgent medical help.

The operational strategy was as follows.

• Offering outreach services inform of Out Patient Department in the different villages in Bidibidi refugee settlement camp
• Carrying out sensitization, awareness and health education on most common diseases and personal hygiene.
• Follow up of patients to their home to assess treatment progress.
• Home to home treatment services for patients that could not move to outreach posts and during COVID-19 pandemic.
• Referral of patients to nearest health facilities for better management.
• Carrying out trainings on essential maternal child health services.
